Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz on Sunday exchanged congratulatory messages to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between their countries. In his message, Xi said that the peoples of China and Mauritania enjoy traditional friendship, and that bilateral ties have advanced steadily and healthily over the past 50 years, scoring great achievements in bilateral cooperation in various fields and bringing tangible benefits to both countries and peoples. China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Mauritania and is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges, expand cooperation of mutual benefit, and reinforce people-to-people and cultural exchanges with Mauritania to continuously push forward bilateral ties, Xi said. For his part, Aziz said that over the past 50 years, the Mauritania-China ties of friendship and cooperation have undergone constant development, witnessing frequent exchanges of high-level contacts and a continuous deepening of mutual trust. Both countries have also maintained a common stance on international and regional issues, he added. Mauritania will continue its firm commitment to deepening and advancing the bilateral solid ties of friendship and cooperation to serve the common interests of both friendly peoples, Aziz said. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Mauritanian counterpart Vatma Vall Mint Soueinae also exchanged congratulatory messages on this occasion. |
